'Lite' vs 'Full' Day Trips - Which one should I do?

This is one of our most often asked questions!

Many of our guests worry that our full day tours will be too much paddling. Normally this isn't the case. On a full day trip you stop for lunch and get a nice break. People also gain skills and comfort in kayaks and so are able to paddle more efficiently. In the end it doesn't seem to be more tiring to do the extra miles.

The main reason you should choose a 'lite' trip over a full day is when you just don't have the time (or money) to spend. To get the 'full' experience of being on the water, experience the caves, and being on a more laid back trip, we recommend joining us on a full day trip.

Romans Point to Point is outside of the National Lakeshore, and includes a beautiful paddle through Bark Bay Slough, a picnic lunch, a tour around Romans Point Sea Caves, and another paddle to Lost Creek estuary. One really cool thing about this trip is that it leaves from one spot and lands in another, meaning you don't back-track. We're pretty sure this is the only 'point to point' day trip like this offered by anyone in our area. Being a 6.5 mile trip, it's also a bit shorter paddling distance than our others. More time to relax!

Mainland Sea Cave 'Exploration' is within the National Lakeshore, accessible from Meyers beach, and can only be led by outfitters who have authorization to work within the park. Not all do, some who try to steer you to other locations. Don't be fooled! These are the largest caves on the Mainland. This trip is all about caves, with nowhere to get out until lunch. Approximately 8 miles of paddling.

Sand Island In A Day is named such because most island tours require multiple days. We were the first outfitter to offer this trip, and from what we've seen we offer the longest Sand Island trip, with time for a hike or hanging out at the lighthouse. (Depending where you land due to conditions) Sand Island has some interesting cultural history, along with lesser visited but very cool caves.

The lite trips give you a taste, the full day trips provide an immersion. Hopefully the above helps you decide!
