Rental Reservation Information & Policies
Welcome!
This page is for renting sea kayaks and related equipment. Please read all reservation and cancellation policies, and contact us if you still have questions.
Risk
Renting a sea kayak means that you are going out without one of our guides who has extensive rescue training, and experience with local weather patterns and wave conditions. Before renting you will want to be confident that you have the ability to handle potentially hazardous conditions or emergencies.
By renting from us you agree to assume all risk and liability. Upon arrival at our shop you will be required to read, understand, and sign our Rental Liability and Agreement form to confirm that you agree to these terms. Accepting liability includes responsibility for damage or loss of equipment which can be very costly. Let us know if you would like a copy of this document to read before registering and we will email it to you.
Training
Lost Creek Adventures offers several options for sea kayak training. For renting sea kayaks we require that ALL paddlers take our Introductory Safety Course or have written proof of equivalent training. This Safety Course is a minimum set of skills and knowledge so we suggest that you take a higher level training course if you are able. If you are completely new to sea kayaking we suggest that you join us on a guided overnight trip.
What are some "what if" situations you should be prepared for when out in the islands?
-
Medical emergencies & evacuations in a remote area.
-
Limited cell phone reception
-
Hazardous weather/wind/cold/heat.
-
Equipment breakage & loss
-
Capsize and swimming scenarios
-
Animal interactions (rare) and biting bugs (common)
-
Lack of potable water

Group & Family Rental Organizers
If you are in charge of a group you will want to communicate these policies to all group members. Remember, you as the group leader will be liable for the actions of those in your group. Communication with group members also informs your them of reimbursement expectations for the cost of the rental, and in case of breakage or loss you will want to decide how that will be covered. (For example: If someone breaks or loses a boat it could cost your group thousands of dollars to replace. Will you accept full responsibility? Or would the user? Or maybe the group would share the expense evenly? Who has homeowners/renters insurance that would help? or would your credit card cover it?)
Information Regarding Minors
A Parent or guardian must be present and responsible for children. No supervision is provided by LCA.

Sea Kayak Rentals:
-
A 20% per person deposit is required to reserve your equipment and is non-refundable. Any payments made above the 20% are fully refundable up to 45 days beforehand. Within 45 days, there is no refund available unless Lost Creek Adventures cancels your reservation. Lost Creek Adventures may cancel/refund your reservation for the following reasons:
-
You were able to find other people to rent your equipment.
-
We had an unforeseeable loss of equipment and are unable to provide for your needs. (In this case we would do our best to find alternate equipment for you.)
-
On the start day of your rental there is a "small craft advisory" or other weather warning that prevents you from starting your rental. In such a case we would cancel for the days that dangerous weather is predicted, but keep your reservation viable for the remaining time period. (E.g. your trip may be be cut shorter, but you can still make the rest of your itinerary)
-
-
There are no partial refunds for early return of equipment.
-
If you are worried about the above policies you may consider purchasing travel insurance.
-
'Complete Outfitting' Rentals: Cancellation policies are identical to Sea Kayak Rentals
-
